You have just moved into a new office. It's open, bright and friendly. Everything's great... except for the acoustics?
The good news:
- You are not alone. We often get such descriptions of new offices.
- You can do something about the noise in the office - even with simple means.
Absorb sound = less noise in the office
If the noise of colleagues is swallowed quickly, it will not disturb you at work. Sound-absorbing materials such as our sustainable acoustic panels swallow the sound, creating a pleasant atmosphere in the office.
You can use these simple acoustic solutions:
Acoustic panels on wall and ceiling
Acoustic panels on the wall or ceiling absorb sound. This increases speech intelligibility during telephone calls or conversations with colleagues. The acoustic panels should be installed near the workstations. For example, above the desks or on the wall near the workstations.
Acoustic pinboard at desk
An acoustic pinboard absorbs sound right where it is generated: directly at the desk during a telephone call or in a discussion with a colleague. The pinboard should not be "cluttered" with too many notes. The more notes hanging on the bulletin board, the worse the sound absorption.
Ceiling canopy
Above the desk it makes sense to mount so-called ceiling sails. They absorb sound directly at the workplace. The good thing about this is that suspending the ceiling sails has an additional advantage: even more sound is absorbed. This means that the back of the acoustic panels is also acoustically effective.
Pay attention to printers or air conditioners
But printers or air conditioners can also be disturbing sources of noise. Thus, the printers should be banished to a closed room or noise-absorbing materials should be used around the devices. In the case of air conditioners, it is advisable to purchase a so-called split unit. Here the fan, which emits the most noise, is installed outside the building. Inside there is only a heat exchanger and air outlet.
